So …. Unimark has found out that [we] will not agree to their all owner operator contract and lease ATC Leasings junk equipment. One would be quite naive to do so, because of the age of and constant upkeep/repairs of the equipment.
Basically, we work out of a junkyard as it is, because this company is in fear of some other company getting the equipment and putting Auto Truck out of business. I’m actually quite surprised no one had called OSHA on this company yet!
Anyways, back to the contract … Its been a month later and still no communication from the union. Poor Steve (local rep) from our District has to call us to get updates. In the meantime, Mr. Anderson is reviewing and turning down our contracts without our approval!
After hearing about this from another driver, I had emailed him about it (below). I simply asked him why he was refusing a contract that was not even his. His explanation was basically, that it was the unions contract and not ours to negotiate! What the hell?
Now that Auto Truck knows that we will not lease their equipment, their lawyers up top, most likely have told them to get rid of the union simply by closing down the company (voiding the contract) and then reopening under Unimarks name. This way Unimark can make up some cheesy ass contract, offer it to us and be back in business.
At this time none of us know what the contract entails, because Boysen will not show it to us. But one thing is for sure … Auto Trucks doors will be closing on July 21st, 2007 and Unimark will come in about 3 weeks later …. Just enough time to starve our familys enough to sign the contract.
