Our telephone conversation kind of disturbed me today, seeming that you became very concerned about my ETA’s shortly after a telephone conversation with the union, concerning [our] Mileage grievance(s). So, I decided to email you, to figure out if there are any hidden agendas between us or simply because you were just doing your job.
On June 27th you had called me questioning why I did not meet my ETA in Raleigh, NC. Here is why;
My trip from Laredo, TX was dispatched on 6/24 and according to you, my ETA was scheduled for 6/27 AM. The trip dispatched to Raleigh, NC (which had no ETA to begin with) was 1,500 miles (or three days long). Because I took off 34 hours to restart my logbook, I would not have arrived in Raleigh, NC until 6/27 PM anyways, for a 6/28 am delivery.
Now, everyone jumps to conclusions every now and then and that’s normal. However, the next time you decide to call someone up and harass them, please do a little research on the situation before letting out your frustrations on the drivers. Furthermore, I do believe that you had mentioned that;
- The load I was under was not a “Rush” load.
- The customer had not called you about the load
- Laredo had not called you about the load.
This just leaves another question, as to why you were so concerned about my ETA(s), when no one else was. Looking back, I do believe it had taken you 4 months to pay me for my out of pocket expenses, 7 months to pay Dave Smith for his breakdown and Billy Sarno for his weekend layover. But now, you have sufficient amount of time to monitor my production. For some odd reason I feel that I am being harassed because [we] are pushing the mileage issue.
Is this a coincidence or?
On the other hand, if this incidence is without merit and/or hidden agenda’s, then please disregard this email. However, if there is something more between us, then I’m hoping that this correspondence will clarify the situation and help resolve our differences today, as well as, in the future.
Notes:
•1. I was 2.5 hours away in San Antonio when dispatched. Laredo was slow and it didn’t make any sense for me to drive all the way to Laredo that afternoon, if there were no loads there.
•2. When I arrived in Laredo Friday night, my paperwork wasn’t ready due to the computers being down. So, I wasn’t able to load (or find) my trucks until late the following morning.
•3. Also, because of the amount of time “waiting” to be dispatched on Friday and Saturday and having only two days left on my log book to run and because Laredo does not have ETA’s on their trip sheets, I decided to back up my hours and go Off Duty for 34 hours on Sunday in order to build my hours back up for the following week.
